Celebrate Life at Hospice’s Dueling Pianos Event

They’re back by popular demand! Main Street Dueling Pianos will headline Hospice of North Ottawa Community’s benefit event, Dueling Pianos, on Thursday, October 6. Dust off those dancing shoes and make a list of your favorite songs, because this all-request celebration of life is one you won’t want to miss.

“There’s a deep connection between music and memory,” notes Kim Holton, Director of Hospice and Palliative Care. “We focus on care for the whole person, and we’ve found music is a key that unlocks minds and hearts. We offer music therapy to patients at our own cost, because we’ve seen firsthand how it connects to the person inside. Patients who may not have been able to speak for a long time will start singing along with a song they know. Time and again we’ve watched music therapy take away anxiety, agitation, pain and stress. What a simple way to give such a precious gift!”

It’s very appropriate to support Hospice of North Ottawa Community with this night of musical celebration. Kim says, “Through the joy of music, we can celebrate the lives of those we loved and remember them as they used to be. ”

In addition to the all-request musical fun, this event will feature heavy appetizers, a cash bar, and raffle tickets for some amazing prizes (see below for more information). The proceeds will help Hospice of North Ottawa Community provide life-affirming and comforting services that are not reimbursed by insurance. These include music therapy, community bereavement and grief support, services for uninsured patients, and much more.

“We are fully staffed and serving more patients than ever,” Kim says. “Thank you for helping us bring peace, comfort and joy to the end of life for our patients and their families.”
